San Cristobal de las Casas is a colonial city of approximately 200,000, located in the heart of the central highlands of Chiapas, Mexico. It is a city seemingly lost in time with cobblestone streets, red tile roofs, beautiful churches, lovely parks, and did I mention incredible markets? It is no wonder San Cristobal is known as one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in Mexico.
The city is surrounded by many Indigenous pueblos where Mayan dialects are still spoken and the wealth of textiles rivals those of Guatemala and Oaxaca. On my recent trip to purchase goods for our trunk sales, I had the good fortune of meeting some wonderful women who are directly responsible for making many of the beautiful blouses we sell at Latin Threads.
Do take a look at some of the images below and check out our blouses to see what lovely work Rosita and her friends produce.
